As the industry gears up for Cannes, Havas Media’s CEO Paul Frampton reveals what he’s most looking forward to

Screen shot 2015-06-17 at 16.49.00One of Havas’s sessions on content at this year’s Cannes is provocatively entitled “full frontal,” and that’s exactly the kind of experience I’m hoping to have generally at this year’s Festival. No, I don’t mean I’m planning on skinny dipping in the Med (no doubt a huge relief!) I mean I’m looking to be startled, to be stopped in my tracks, by genuinely thought-provoking, arresting conversations as the crème de la crème of marketing and storytelling gather on La Croisette.

Just as we’re bringing together pioneers in this debate – from artists to film-makers – to push us to perceive new perspectives, I’m hoping that the storytellers on stage at Cannes will jolt us all in to thinking differently and accelerating the necessary change within the communications industry to become more people-centric.

I’ll definitely be seeking out those marketers that are genuinely forging ahead with a new type of marketing in our super-connected world, like Unilever’s CMO Keith Weed, who is taking to the stage on Wednesday 24th. Like myself & Havas, Keith is a big believer that brands need to be meaningful to succeed today. I’m looking forward to hearing him talk about linking his brands, as well as the umbrella corporate name, to social purpose in society.
